LadyCelt.net is the online home of
a web designer with a love for all things Celtic. Here,
you can explore some of the web sites I've designed, learn
some of my secrets for great web sites, and even contact me
for a quote on your own web site.
Web design is something that I've
learned from the ground up - starting with coding in HTML.
I decided early on that if I was going to be good at it, I
needed to know just what it takes to make it work correctly.
In the end, my stubborness paid off -- I had a client who
needed me to fix an imagemap that was getting messed up every
time he posted it. As it turns out, his software was breaking
the code. I was only able to figure out the problem because
I had actually hand-coded an imagemap. I had acquired (forcibly
and stubbornly) the skill of reading the code and was able
to pinpoint exactly where the problem was and deduce the cause.
It's not necessary
for everyone who wants or has a web site to learn the nuts
and bolts of coding in order to create a beautiful and quite
functional web site... but, in my opinion, it helps.
As I work on building this web site, I will provide links
and information for you that I've found useful along the way.
Many times I will be able to provide you with a shortcut that
I wish I had found in the beginning. For instance, I highly
recommend learning about and using Cascading Style Sheets
(CSS) when designing web sites.
The main benefit of CSS is that design elements can very
easily be changed throughout a site simply by changing the
style sheet. Let's say that I wanted to change the text color
to green on this site. Rather than painstakingly searching
through every page and changing the color attribute for all
the text, I can change one or two elements in the style sheet
and it will work across the whole site. What a timesaver!
Being a busy person means that I have less and less time
to devote to learning new things. So, I have learned to take
advantage of shortcuts when I can. Predesigned web templates
can be a great shortcut, provided they're well done. If you
want to look at my Template Library,
you'll find more than 700 quality web templates complete with
style sheets. If you find something you like, you can purchase
it for only $5 and there are no limitations on the number
of times you can use it. This is one shortcut I wish I'd found
sooner!

opportunity, visit CafePress.
They offer more than 50 items for sale, printed with your

Trend Micro has this thing called HouseCall. It's GREAT!
I was able to use it to help out my father when his computer
had gotten one of the nasty worms going around. We could
not get his virus software to run, uninstall or install.
I turned to HouseCall and was able to run a complete virus
scan across the internet. It located and removed the worm,
thus allowing us to correctly install his regular virus
scanner and get back to work. Trend Micro is fabulous!
